For this week’s Two For Tuesday, I decided to keep things lighter with a couple of humorous songs. First up is the delightfully odd Cement Slippers by Dengue FeverThere are so many interesting parts to this track. The synthesizer beat is super catchy, the sax solo in the middle is spot on, and the lyrical play between the two vocalists is endlessly amusing. The part about bars is my wife to a tee, and the intro about loving the beach except the water, the sand and the sun is dead on Grellner. And the creative video makes the whole thing that much stranger.
Next up is Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win by The Beastie Boys
When I heard a few years back that The Beastie Boys were releasing their own set of action figures, I knew it was only a matter of time until they showed up in a music video. Luckily, the Adams and Mike picked Spike Jonze to bring their plastic alter egos to life. And as in the past, Spike’s video does its best to upstage the song. The result is an instantly classic. As a long time Beastie Boys fan, it’s great to see them still stay relevant after so many years.
