The Captain Mourns The Boys

Like all hip kids who came of age in the late eighties/early nineties, I was saddened to learn of the passing of MCA. The Beastie Boys were a significant part of my discovery of music. My cassette copy of License To Ill eventually broke due to overuse in my walkman, and my cassette copy of Ill Communication was stolen by an ex-girlfriend. Both were replaced immediately. And the Beastie Boys tour with Tribe Called Quest was one of the best concerts I saw in the nineties. Q-Tip coming out for the encore to join the Boys in Get It Together really brought the house down.
I’m sure the internet will be full of personal accounts of the impact of Beastie Boys and memories of MCA, so I’m not going to wax poetic on either subject. Besides, MCA was always tied for my second favorite member of the group behind Mike D. Instead, here are my favorite videos by New York’s Finest. Enjoy!
