Today it was announced that Rams own Stan Kronke is building a new football stadium in California. Stan the Scam wants to steal back St. Louis’ franchise to Los Angeles, and now everyone knows it. Screw you Stan, we’re keeping this team! St. Louis might be known as a baseball town, but that’s because the locals cheer louder for the best results. And I can tell you first hand from this past season, St. Louis can cheer for a winner. I attended half of the Rams home games this year, and the hometown won 3 of the 4 games. The three winning games I saw were a hell of a good time. The Edward Jones Dome got loud, like wayback when it was the TWA Dome.
October 19th against the Seahawks was probably the most fun I’ve had attending a football game in St. Louis. It started out wild with the north river tailgate crew. Volz and Hot Rod were celebrating the attendance of 100 straight home games, stretching back to 2002.
A very celebratory tailgate gave way to an amazing win by the home team. The Rams managed to defeat the reigning Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks with trickery and big runs. It was nuts in the stadium that day, best win I’ve seen in person.
One month later I went down for another amazing game against another Super Bowl Team from 2013. It was snowing on the 16th of November as I filed into the dome along with a traveling legion of Broncos fans.
The Rams defense showed they were worth the hype as they shut down the all-time touchdown leader, Peyton Manning. It was like watching an unknown pitcher strike out Barry Bonds; amazing to see in person!
Two weeks after the snow, it was 70 and sunny on the last day of November as I walked in to the Dome.
That Sunday I watched the Rams obliterate the helpless Raiders 52-0. I have been to my share of blowouts that went against the home team, and I can now say I prefer it this way. All three games were a tremendous amount of fun and a great example of what St. Louis could potentially lose.
I think the St. Louis Rams are on the verge of having a breakout season, and it would kill me to see this team leave for L.A. I want the Rams to stay in St. Louis dammit! I think Stan Kroneke is doing his best to piss off locals like me into writing off the team, but I ain’t falling for it. This town supported a team through the good years, and it’s ready to do so again. St. Louis is a NFL city no matter what this rich asshole thinks. Keep the Rams in St. Louis!
