After a 3½ hour rain delay tonite the Cardinals beat the Giants 3-1 to take a 2-1 lead in the NLCS. It was an impressive win, with Kyle Lohse managing to outpitching Matt Cain. It’s still early and there is a lot of baseball left to play, but it looks like the Cardinals may be heading back to the World Series. And wouldn’t you know it, the Detroit Tigers are almost certain to be there waiting for them. With a 3-0 series lead over the Yankees, it looks like there might be a rematch of the 2006 World Series.
Thinking back to 2006 season made me want to go digging for pictures, and I found a perfect shot for #WaybackWednesday. Here’s the gang from Hazelwood West cheering on the Cardinals for our ten year reunion.
This was the last weekend of the regular season, when the Cardinals were still fighting to make the playoffs. Class of 1996 was in town for our 10 year reunion, and a few of us out of towners got together for a game and the brand new Busch Stadium. From left to right we have @marcps, @CaptainRaoul, Rachel, Ellen and @PennyRaeVintage cheering on the 2006 Cardinals. Hazelwood West Theater Represent!
My man @marcps was supposed to fly into town tonite for a wedding this weekend, but the weather that delayed the game tonite may have done the same to his flight. I know he’s looking to go to one or both of the next couple of home games, so hopefully we can meet up to celebrate another trip to the World Series while he’s in town.
And Facebook was nice enough to let me know that today is the birthday of @PennyRaeVintage and what better gift than a playoff win! Happy Birthday, and let’s go Cardinals!
